PCO runs frontline agricultural extension projects alongside the training on animal traction.
This has enabled PCO to demonstrate to the farmer’s effectiveness of an all- package best practice on farm production for markets. PCO collaborates with county agriculture extension officers to implement the animal traction and agricultural extension project through a farmer field school model, guided by UNFAO.
Other production components covered by PCO in our agricultural production program include general crop management, affordable and suitable irrigation technologies e.g drip irrigation and treadle pumps, conservation agriculture, soil health and fertility, soil cover and cover crop options as well as soil moisture management. PCO has been demonstrating most of these principles in our one feddan of a water melon farm in Agok, Wau County.
